Seminar Title: 'AI-models to explore metabolism on a database scale'
Brief Description: 'How many small molecules exist in biological samples? Over the last years, the Fiehn lab has constructed a comprehensive database on >200,000 samples. Compound annotations now use a foundational model for small molecules to predict retention times, which are then used in confidence scoring and conformal set statistics to find novel and unexpected metabolites.'
The MCB Work in Progress Seminar Series highlights research by MCB faculty, graduate students and lab personnel. Participants present their current findings, methodologies, and preliminary results. This seminar series fosters collaboration, strengthens research skills, and supports the professional growth of emerging scholars and research staff while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
