Karen Yanez, academic advisor for Marine and Coastal Science, has been with UC Davis since 2021. Karen is a first-generation college graduate from the Bay Area and a proud alumna of UC Davis. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in human development from UC Davis in 2019 and a Master’s in Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in 2023. Before joining BASC as the MCS advisor, Karen previously held roles at UC Davis as a Graduate Coordinator in Public health sciences and as a Staff Advisor for Health Professions Advising. She is passionate about supporting students in achieving their academic and personal goals and helping them navigate their college experience. Outside of work, Karen enjoys crocheting, exercising, and traveling.
