The UC Davis College of Biological Sciences is one of the few colleges in the nation dedicated solely to the study of biology. Established as an independent college in 2005, it builds on a rich history dating back to 1970, when UC Davis created the Division of Biological Sciences to unify life sciences programs across campus.
Today, the college is home to more than 6,000 undergraduate students pursuing eleven biology-related majors, and nearly 500 graduate students across eight interdisciplinary graduate groups. Our faculty and students are at the forefront of scientific discovery, working across disciplines to address challenges in human and animal health, environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, and beyond.
Through excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, the College of Biological Sciences transforms foundational biological knowledge into real-world impact.
