Research Interests

Our research lies at the interface of developmental and evolutionary genetics, using Drosophila as an experimental model. We are particularly interested in the origin of evolutionary innovations, the evolution of sexual dimorphism and sex-specific structures, and the role of development in shaping the genetic basis of trait evolution. Our research also explores the evolution of cell type diversity and the origin of novel cell types. We address these questions by integrating developmental-genetic, genomic, quantitative-genetic, and phylogenetic approaches across a wide variety of Drosophila species.
