The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology brings together a diverse community of faculty, students, postdoctoral researchers, and staff. Our research mission centers around understanding life’s fundamental molecular and cellular processes, spanning a wide range of microbial, animal, and cellular models. To foster interdisciplinary excellence, the department maintains two state-of-the-art research technology cores that enable scientists to visualize macromolecular structures at unprecedented resolution. The department is deeply committed to educating and training the next generation by offering three majors providing undergraduates with a deep understanding of biological principles at the molecular and cellular levels. Graduates pursue diverse careers in research and development, academia, and biomedical professions.
